Revised 22-01-2019

HAC is an approved Club under the VicRoads Club Permit Scheme. The scheme allows vehicles over 25 years old to be driven for up to 90 days a year without full registration. However there are certain conditions from both HAC and VicRoads which must be met.

Processing Club Permit registration is not an obligation of the Club, but a service provided as a privilege to our members. The club remains responsible to VicRoads for the inspection of vehicles.

NEW APPLICANTS: To be eligible for a Club Permit through Huntingdale Auto Club, a new applicant must be an active HAC member for 12 months prior to applying for the Permit.   The initial Application/Inspection fee for a Club Permit is $50.00 (non-refundable).

RENEWALS: HAC members seeking renewal of their Club Permit must have been an active HAC member for 12 months prior to the Permit renewal date. An annual Renewal Inspection Fee of $20.00 for Social members will apply, but the Inspection Fee will be waived for continuing Full Adult members.

ACTIVE MEMBER: Active membership is defined as attending at least two HAC calendared events or other CAMS authorised events during the 12 month membership period. These may be Social or Competition events.

Huntingdale Auto Club authorised officer/s may accept or decline a vehicle if deemed by them to be unacceptable, irrespective of roadworthy or engineers certificates.

APPLICATION AND INSPECTION

  • The applicant must be and remain a current financial member of Huntingdale Auto Club. For non-members, refer to our Membership Page to complete a Membership Application before applying for a Club Permit.
  • Contact the Club Permit Officer (Brian Munyard – 0418 129 064) or the Club Secretary (John Rosengrave – 0425 722 706) notify HAC you wish to renew or apply for a new Club Permit registration of your Vehicle (2 – 3 weeks prior notice preferred).
  • You will be advised to contact the authorised Club officer to arrange inspection of your vehicle.
  • For each new application and/or renewal the vehicle will be inspected, photographed and recorded by the club Authorised Officer. See above for Application/Renewal Inspection fees.
  • It will be necessary for you to have all relevant documents with you at the time of the inspection, i.e. current roadworthy certificate (for new Applications), VicRoads Club Permit Application Form, proof of current HAC membership and (for renewals) VicRoads Club Permit Logbook, completed HAC Application/Renewal Form and proof of attendance to at least 2 events in the previous 12 months.
  • In the case of modified vehicles, it will be necessary to have a VASS Engineers certification with you at the time of inspection (for new Applications). If any vehicle on an existing Club Permit has undergone any change, alteration or modification since the inception of Club Registration on the subject vehicle, it must be examined by the club authorized officer. HAC has a responsibility to notify VicRoads and it may be necessary to obtain VASS certification.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CLUB PERMIT USE

  • Any Club Member having a vehicle with a VicRoads Club Permit authorised through Huntingdale Auto Club MUST ensure their HAC Membership remains current throughout the period of the Club Permit.
  • Your proof of HAC Membership (i.e. your current Membership Card) and a correctly completed VicRoads Club Permit Logbook must be carried in the vehicle at all times.
  • If your HAC membership is not renewed by the due date the VicRoads Permit is NO LONGER VALID, and therefore the vehicle is not permitted to be used on public roads during the period your HAC Club Membership is not current.
  • Should you no longer be a current financial member of HAC, the vehicle is considered unregistered, and will also have no TAC Cover.
  • If the vehicle is sold, HAC and VicRoads must be notified, the number plates removed and the Club Permit label and Log Book must be destroyed.
  • If apprehended driving without a current VicRoads Club Permit and/or not being able to prove current HAC membership, you will be subject to the same penalties as for a driver of an unregistered vehicle.
  • NOTE that the Club is obligated to inform VicRoads once a Club Permit holder’s Club membership has expired, or if they have reason to believe the vehicle is being operated in an unsafe condition or otherwise not in accordance with the conditions for correct use of a Club Permit.

Refer to the VicRoads website for further details.
